Taking Time To Evaluate

Let's take a minute to examine and reflect on ourselves and our Bible class.  (2 Cor. 13:5) Thinking back on the past three lessons, have you had good classes?  Have you taken time to plan your Bible class?  Are things going smoothly or are you frantic by the time the students leave?  Have you prepared yourself? Did the students learn lessons from the Bible?  Was the hour each Lord's Day worthwhile?  Did your behavior portray how you intended to lead the class in learning about God?  Did you behave Christlike?  Were the children happy and relaxed while they were in class?  Were they interested in the lesson?  What can you improve upon?  Did you use book, chapter and verse for all that you said in class? Did you study hard enough?  Did you pray with your whole heart?

While there is always room for improvement, I pray that all your classes have gone well and you were glad that you were teaching God's Word to children who were captivated by the Bible.  I hope you felt needed and were prepared to fill that need. It is good to ask ourselves questions from time to time about what worked and what did not.  Simple thought:  Keep doing those things which have worked well and improve on those which could have been better. It takes time to secure a routine in your Bible class, to know your students well, to develop good study habits, and to learn to ask God for His help.

Remember what we have taught the children:  "Ask and it shall be given unto you; seek and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:  For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened."  (Mt. 7:7, 8)  Be determined to please God, obey Him, ask for forgiveness, and keep on keeping on. Don't give up!
