Visual Aids - #5 Abstract Concepts

When teaching abstract concepts such as "Christian Influence" (Mt. 5:13-16;  Mt. 13:33;  2 Cor. 3:2, 3), it often can be difficult to illustrate the lesson with a visual aid.  I definitely believe that the easier a lesson can be taught, the more good young students can glean from it and understand the intended message. Using a book as a visual aid, and also as an activity, both work well together.

Here is an example of this kind of visual aid, but this particular one perhaps for older students. After drawing the pictures and adding the words, the book is copied, stapled and an individual book is passed out to every student. Always make sure to keep at least one copy for a future class.  Re-inventing the wheel is most often unnecessary.
